International Pro Am
November 2008

Longwood Holidays is proud to be the chosen UK Travel Partner for the Taba Heights International Pro Am taking place this November.

Since opening for business last year, Taba Heights' 18-hole championship golf course has proven popular with golf enthusiasts and holidaymakers alike, and for the second consecutive year will be holding an International Pro Am.

"We're very excited about being involved in the Pro Am," commented Dan Lion, Longwood Holidays Activities Manager. "Golf is set to become a big product for us, and Taba Heights has great potential as a golfing destination for beginners and pros alike. We're hoping that the event will bring the resort some much deserved recognition, and will help highlight to the golf community what a wonderful, beautiful place it is to play."

Taking advantage of the resort's year-round sunny climate, the 54-hole event will run for 3 days from 27 to 29 November 2008, and is expected to attract a great social mix of professionals and amateurs.

Touring Professional and PGA European Tour winner David Lynn has confirmed that he will return to defend his title, significant in that the great attraction for many players to such an event is the social mix of professionals and amateurs. Longwood Holidays has been outlined to organise travel arrangements from the UK with amateurs being urged to enter in teams of three plus one golf professional.

Lynn also recognises the great potential of Taba Heights. “At under 5 hours flying time to a resort with excellent practice facilities and guaranteed sunshine, Taba Heights is the perfect choice for my winter base. The desert style golfing oasis surely will become a hidden gem to golfers worldwide” commented Lynn earlier in the year.

Paul Oliver, general manager of Taba Heights golf course, is predicting that demand for the event this year will be even greater than the last. “After the success of the inaugural Pro Am we are delighted to announce the date for next year’s event,” said Paul. “Last year’s event was a fantastic success and the feedback from amateurs and professionals alike has been overwhelming. Of course we plan to make 2008 bigger and better, and no doubt we will fill the field very early as nearly every team from 2007 expressed a desire to return in 2008.”
