The reefs in this area are in very good condition, making it a favourite for snorkellers and divers, and there's miles of sandy, quiet beaches to recline upon.

For sightseers & culture vultures....
...Winter is probably the best time to visit destinations such as Luxor, Cairo, Petra and Amman if you want to see and do a lot. The weather is more amenable to walking, the sights are often not as crowded as peak summer dates and you won't have to avoid the treacherous midday sun! Tel Aviv on the other hand will much cooler, but with a plethora of galleries, museums and cultural events, you probably won't even notice...

...Sharm el Sheikh is a given. The Red Sea's biggest, busiest resort is where all the action is, with lots of bars, nightclubs and nightlife options in and around Naama Bay and Soho Square, the new entertainment complex located by the Savoy. Hurghada also has plenty of nightlife options and a less hedonistic atmosphere than Shar- while it's not exactly off the beaten track, you're more likely to find an alternative clubbing scene here.
