Combine the highlights of Classical Jordan - Amman, Petra, Kerak, Madaba, Jerash and the Dead Sea - with a sophisticated Red Sea beach holiday. Our Highlights of Jordan tour combines five days of touring (in the company of an experienced guide) with two full days of leisure in Aqaba, staying in 5* hotels throughout.

Itinerary

From Wednesday to Saturday, you will be accompanied by a qualified, English-speaking guide.

Tuesday

Depart from London and arrive in Aqaba, where you will be met at the airport and transferred straight to your hotel in Petra, a journey of approximately two hours. Overnight in Petra.

Wednesday

We meet our guide in the morning for a full day in Petra exploring the most significant sites of Roman and Nabataean origin. Highlights include the Siq, from which you'll catch your first magical glimpse of the Treasury, made famous in Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail, the Monastery and the amphitheatre. Overnight in Petra.

Thursday

We depart from Petra after breakfast and drive to Amman along the King's Highway, stopping to visit the 'city of mosaics', Madaba - home to the oldest map in existence of the Holy Land, as well as Mount Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses, and the ancient Crusader Castle of Kerak. Overnight in Amman.

Friday

In the morning, undertake a comprehensive tour of Amman, including the Roman Amphitheatre and Citadel, before travelling to Jerash, the best preserved city of Roman Times and Ajloun, where a 12th century Saracen castle still stands, in the afternoon. Overnight in Amman.

Saturday

After breakfast we depart from Amman to Aqaba, stopping on the way to experience the uniquely buoyant and therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea. Overnight in Aqaba.

Sunday & Monday

Enjoy two days of leisure in Aqaba, where you can explore the pristine reefs on diving or snorkelling trips, relax on the beach or experience authentic local life downtown. An optional visit to Wadi Rum on Sunday is available (book locally). Overnights in Aqaba.

Tuesday

Depart your hotel after breakfast for Aqaba airport for your return flight to London.

All vehicles are air-conditioned.

As so many sites are visited, this tour may not be suitable for the very elderly or people with walking difficulties.
It may be necessary to amend the itinerary due to prevailing local circumstances. We will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible.
