About the South Coast Area
Across the Red Sea, east of the Sinai Peninsula, are a number of resorts on mainland Egypt. These include Hurghada, El Gouna, El Quseir, Abu Soma and Soma Bay. The area is characterised by sandy beaches and ideal conditions for a variety of watersports, including a year-round sea breeze that also makes these resorts slightly cooler in high summer than their sister Red Sea resorts on the Sinai.
