The perfect itinerary for those wishing to see the highlights of Jordan in a short space of time, taking in the historical sites and city culture of Amman, magnificent Petra, and Aqaba - Jordan's Red Sea resort.

 

Itinerary

 

Sunday-Monday

depart from the UK for your flight to Amman, On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel in Amman. Your two night stay will allow you time to discover some of the interesting sites of the city including the Roman Amphitheatre and the Citadel, as well as the surrounding areas such as Jerash, the best preserved city of Roman times and Aljoun, where the 12the century Saracen Castle still stands.

 

Tuesday

After breakfast in Amman, drive south along the King's Highway, heading for Petra. En-route, visit Madaba, home to the oldest known map of the Holy Land and the mosaic school, and Mount Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses. Drive through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak, visiting the Crusader Castle there, before arriving in Petra.

 

Wednesday

Spend the day exploring the city carved from the spectacular multi coloured stone by the Nabataeans and Romans. Walk through the Siq, a narrow, winding gorge sliced between the surrounding rock that leads to the entrance to Petra, and from where you'll catch your first magical glimpse of The Treasury. Explore at your leisure.

 

Thursday

Transfer by road to the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. The chance to explore the awesome moonlike landscapes of Wadi Rum, where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed, is possible en-route.

 

Friday-Saturday

Spend the next two days in Aqaba, taking time out to enjoy some glorious weather, a host of watersports and traditional welcoming Jordanian hospitality. If you tire of relaxation, you can also visit Aqaba town centre and catch a glimpse of daily life in Jordan's only port.

 

Sunday

Transfer to Aqaba airport for your return flight to the UK (may be via Amman).
