Red Sea specialists Longwood Holidays have launched a comprehensive golf programme at the Sinai Peninsula’s newest golf course in the resort of Taba Heights, with their new ‘Tee Time in Taba’ package starting at just £529.
The package includes three rounds of 18 holes, 2 rounds of 9 holes, 100 range balls a day and use of a golf cart as well as 7nts half board at the 5* Hyatt Regency, including a free upgrade to a seaview room, 25% discount on spa treatments and 15% discount on beverages*.
The package is aimed at golfers travelling with family or friends, says Product Manager Dan Lion; “There’s a lot of golf included, but not too much – and the extra discounts on drinks and massages, as well as the many activities and facilities available in the resort, create a nicely balanced package that should appeal to families and groups as a whole.”
Other golfing options include green fees from £24 for 9 holes, unlimited golf packages from £52 for one day, and coaching and lessons from £24 for a half hour golf lesson.
Longwood has undertaken an extensive sponsorship of the golf course, including branded golf carts, flags, tee-signs and a weekly ‘nearest the pin’ competition which awards a prize to the drive nearest the pin and a free 7 night holiday for a hole in one.
Taba Heights is just the first phase of Longwood’s golf programme, predicts Lion. “We pride ourselves on being destination specialists, and our programme encompasses several resorts where there are well-established golf courses – including El Gouna, Sharm el Sheikh, Soma Bay and Cairo. Looking to the future, we would love to develop our programme to include as many golfing destinations as possible. It’s a growth market, and appeals to a sector of the market willing to pay good money for a quality golf experience.”
On tips for agents selling golf, Lion suggests that it’s not necessarily a product for golfing enthusiasts alone. “Selling golf packages is a lot like selling diving – there are customers who are already keen participants in the sport, and knowing a good golf course to recommend can help them choose their perfect holiday destination – and then there are customers for who golf is a non-essential add on, who are happy to play it casually or give it a try for the first time, and for who the laid-back atmosphere of the Taba Heights golf course is perfectly suited.”
