***Longwood Launches Yoga Diving Programme***

New for the 2007-08 season, Longwood Holidays is adding yoga diving to its Red Sea diving programme. The unique new initiative is hosted at Dahab’s Reef 2000 dive centre, and offers options for both beginners and qualified divers.
“This is an exciting programme, bringing together two practices which seem totally unrelated but in fact complement each other perfectly. Yoga has evolved over the centuries very effective breathing training exercises, and these are of obvious benefit to both learners and experienced divers.” said Dan Lion, Longwood Holidays Dive Product Manager.
The course for learners is specifically aimed at people who want to learn to dive but who are afraid or want to try an alternative approach. Adhering to the structure of the world-renowned PADI Open Water Course, instructors incorporate traditional yoga breathing and relaxation techniques, helping learners address their fears and progress at their own pace. On completion of the course, the learner is eligible for PADI Open Water certification.
Qualified divers can also benefit from assimilating fundamental yoga teachings into their diving skills – yoga breathing exercises help divers relax in the water, improves buoyancy and helps decrease air consumption, while yoga postures increase flexibility and stamina.
As an optional extra, divers can also experience desert meditation on an evening visit to a local Bedouin camp for dinner.
Prices start at £329 for either the PADI Open Water Course taught through yoga diving, or Advanced Yoga Diving package, which includes 6-8 dives, free diving instruction and 6 specialist yoga classes.
Diving packages and courses must be booked in conjunction with a Longwood package holiday. Full agent commission is paid on dive bookings.
