North Africa and Middle East specialist Longwood Holidays have reported an increase of over 100% on their accommodation only bookings in the past year and have now added golf and diving as commissionable extras. Longwood have seen significant growth across the whole programme with sales in hotel nights for Egypt and Jordan performing particularly well.
“We’re really pleased with the growth in our accommodation only sales” said Alan Meadows, Longwood Holidays Agency Sales Manager. “We’ve tried to tailor our programme to suit the needs of our agents, which is why we offer our usual high rates of commission on all our accommodation only bookings. We’ve also tried to focus on selling our more upmarket properties in order to differentiate ourselves from other operators. This has proved very popular with sales of our upmarket all inclusives, such as the 5* Baron Palms in Sharm el Sheikh selling particularly well. Our 4* all inclusives are also selling well - for example the Ocean View in El Gouna and the Sierra in Sharm el Sheikh have both proved very popular with agents as they represent value for money whilst still offering a high standard of service.”
Longwood’s diving programme, established for over 13 years, offers a range of courses and packages for beginners and qualified divers as well as liveaboard holidays and solo traveller weeks. Since its introduction late last year Longwood’s golf programme has proved a big success, and the operator have recently expanded the programme with the introduction of golf in the resorts of Sharm el Sheikh & El Gouna.
“Our diving product has sold consistently well and the introduction of our golf programme last year has proved very popular, so it’s only logical to make these available with accommodation only sales as well as packages” commented Meadows. “It’s important for us to diversify our product to keep up with the ever changing market place. With accommodation only now becoming a real focus for us, the option to add on golf or diving is a real opportunity for agents to earn extra commission.”
