***Longwood Supports Red Sea Cleanup***

28 September 2005

Longwood Holidays demonstrated its support for conserving the Red Sea reefs recently on the 20th PADI Project Aware International Cleanup Day, held on 17 September 2005. The annual event invites participants from around the world to help clean shoreline and underwater environments from litter and aquatic debris.

A cleanup on the Red Sea at Sharm el Sheikh was initiated by Dan Lion, Longwood Holidays Dive Product Manager, who took part along with wife Beth, 6 Longwood guests and 6 Russian divers, all staying on board the Liveaboard boat VIP One.

“The Red Sea is one of the best and most unique diving locations in the world, and it’s imperative that as a responsible operator, and personally as an avid diver, that we do everything we can to help protect the reefs.” said Dan “ We were very happy when we found only a minimal amount of debris on the seabed, as it reassured us that the efforts to protect the reefs from the pollution that can follow increased tourism have been successful.”
