Classical Jordan Tour

Uncover Jordan's fascinating history in the company of an experienced, expert guide. Our Classical Jordan Tour offers a comprehensive Jordanian experience and visits the key sights from across the country, including Petra, Jerash, Madaba and the Dead Sea. Throughout, you will be accommodated in the finest 5* accommodation available and will travel in air-conditioned transport.

Itinerary

Day One: Sunday Flight departure from London Heathrow, landing in Amman. You will be welcomed by representatives of Dakkak (our ground handler in Jordan) and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight: Amman

Day Two: Monday Explore the stunning ancient ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre and Citadel - two of Amman's main sights - and take a step back in time at the Folklore museum. You can spend the afternoon following your own itinerary.
Overnight: Amman

Day Three: Tuesday We depart early for our first stop, the Dead Sea. Renowned for its unusual landscape, the Dead Sea is mineral-rich with therapeutic and health properties that have attracted many a visitor including King Herod himself. The Pella, also located in the ridge of the Jordan valley, are surrounded by beautifully rolling green hills that offer a fantastic view of the waters. Umm Qais, our next stop, is where the ancient ruins of the Decapolis city of Gadara lay and where generations of Palestinians visit their former homeland. Our final stops are at the Yarmuk River and Golan Heights before heading back to Amman.
Overnight: Amman

Day Four: Wednesday Jerash, a former Roman city, is pure inspiration for visitors walking through the Oval buildings, the Cardo, the Temple of Artemis and the Sacred Way. Travel through the pine forest and olive groves and arrive in Ajloun, towered over by the mighty Ajloun castle, which was built in 1184 solely for the purpose of protecting trade between the borders of Syria and Jordan. Our journey ends back at Amman.
Overnight: Amman

Day Five: Thursday From Amman, we travel down the Kings Highway, which has been used since prehistoric times and was the favoured route to Petra of the Nabataeans and the Crusaders. Visit the ‘City of mosaics’ - Madaba - and, in particular, the mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy land. Our next stop, Mount Nebo, holds deep religious meaning for Christians, Jews and Muslims alike. For our last stop for the day, we head towards the unofficial capital of the south, Kerak.
Overnight: Petra

Day Six: Friday We dedicate the whole day taking in the wonders of Petra. Absorb the wonderful rainbow colours and the beautiful carvings of the ‘Red-rose city’, take in the breath-taking views from the Monastery, learn of the city’s rich history in the Archaeological and Nabataean museums and take home some traditional Bedouin handicrafts.
Overnight: Petra

Day Seven: Saturday Visit the beautiful landscape where the Shara Mountains, made out of sandstone, granite and basalt, are a dominant feature in the Wadi Rum landscape. Return to Amman.
Overnight: Amman

Final Day: Sunday Take the airport transfer back to Amman (airport name) for your return flight back to London Heathrow.

Throughout this tour you will be accompanied by a qualified, English-speaking guide. All vehicles are air-conditioned. As so many sites are visited, this tour may not be suitable for the very elderly or people with walking difficulties.
It may be necessary to amend the itinerary due to prevailing local circumstances. We will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible.
